Artists' Retreat
Come join me at Wild Heart Spirit Heart Retreats. We will spend time painting outdoors in the many glorious vignettes or wilderness vistas that call out to be painted.
Thursday evening we will be greeted by host, Sue Turner, share a meal and connect. Friday and Saturday will start with a short demo after breakfast followed by ample time for artists to paint in places of their own choosing. I will check in with each artist to offer support and guidance as needed. There will be time to wander the gardens or walk the labyrinth. After dinner will be a time for sharing and reflection, possibly a presentation and an opportunity to problem solve works in progress or areas of concern. I encourage participants to work in mediums of their choice; oils, acrylic, watercolour or pastel. Bring a couple and mix it up. Work big or small. Paint one painting over the weekend or paint many.
Artists’ retreat features celebrated artist Chris Stusek from Victoria.
Retreat Dates: arrive evening of June 25th. Depart by noon June 28th. A suggested supply list will be sent out to participants.

Forest Bathing/Art Therapy Retreat
Tap into the healing properties of the natural world.
Join certified Forest Therapy Guide, Ken Ouendag, and registered Art Therapist, Tanissa Martindale, for a guided immersive experience combining forest therapy (also known as forest bathing or shinrin-yoku) and eco-art therapy. Research confirms what many of us already feel. That is, spending time in nature is good for us. Together, we’ll tap into the healing properties of the natural world, using nature and creativity to support your own unique journey toward wholeness and wellness. The weekend will bring together mindfulness and embodiment practices, art-making, deep nature experiences, healthy vegan-eating, reflective journaling and group discussions in ways that support deeper connections with the natural world, with ourselves, and between one another. You can also expect to have some fun, share stories along the way, and enjoy a few cups of forest tea together. Our approach is open-ended; there is no prescription for what a person should experience, or what benefits they should receive.

In art therapy, the focus is not on learning art skills, but to use the artistic process as a tool for expression and integration. As we restore our connection with nature, we restore ourselves. In turn, as we deepen our relationship with nature we often develop a greater appreciation and will to preserve the natural world.
Art Therapy led by Tanissa Martindale a registered Art Therapist who supports individuals of all ages to tap into their innate creativity and wisdom. In addition to seeing clients one-on-one in her private practice, “Brave Canvas” she also offers creatively facilitated workshops at schools and agencies to promote the importance of art for mental and emotional well being. Tanissa believes that we are all creative, and uses art for her own healing and growth.
